Chicago is situated on the Southwestern shore of lake Michigan in Midwest, USA and the largest city in the state of Illinois and is one of the most densely populated cities in the country. The air transportation network in the city is one of the busiest in the country. Midway International Airport and O'Hare International Airports are the two main airports in the city and also one of the busiest airports in world. Large number of domestic and international airlines have regular operation to and from these two airports in Chicago. Not only major towns and cities but the air transportation network of Chicago connects it with small counties. Situated in the state of Ohio, Athens is one such county which is connected with Chicago by airlines. A few domestic and international airlines operate some flights from Athens to Chicago.
Athens is famous across USA for the Ohio University which is the largest employer in the region. The other significant employers in the region are Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare, Hocking College, Diagnostic Hybrids, O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, Rocky Outdoor Gear, Wayne National Forest.
The region also gets some contributions from some retail stores and restaurants. At one point of time the economy of Athens was quite strong and was based on large-scale industries like salt production, coal mining and timber harvesting. Though the transportation network in Athens is not much strong the region is served well by air transportation network which is operated at Gordon K Bush Airport, also known as Snyder Field. The airport is situated at a distance of 10 miles Southwest of Athens.
